Van Hire FAQs

Q. Is there a minimum time I have to hire for?
A. Yes, the minimum time is 4 hours.

Q. Is there a minimum age limit to being able to hire a van?
A. Yes, you must be over 21 and have had a valid UK licence for at least a year. For non UK licence holders you must be at least 25 and had a licence for more than 2 years.

Q. Does the cost of a collision damage waiver drop if I hire for more than one day?
A. Yes, we reduce the price to £10.00 per day from the second day onwards.

Q. If I leave a van with contents will I be charged?
A. Yes, unfortunately we are charged to dump so this cost, minimum (£50.00) is passed on to you.

Q. How much fuel do I have to put in to the van?
A. Only as much as when you hired it from us. If there is a shortage you will be charged £2.50 per litre.

Q. Is there a charge for an additional driver?
A. Yes, however we only charge £7.50 but they will need a full driving licence and counterpart.

Q. What is the best method of payment?
A. A credit card is ideal however we also accept cheques and cash providing they are supported by credit card.

Q. Do you have driving licence exclusions?
A. Exclusions will be checked at the time of hire; if you are in any doubt please fax a copy of your licence for us to check in advance. Licence endorsements up to 9 points are accepted. If the driver has been banned from driving for a DD, DR or UT offence, or has been disqualified for 12 months or more, we will only rent 5 years or more after the return of the licence.

Q. What happens if I damage the overhead of a van?
A. You will forfeit your deposit and you will be liable for the total cost of the overhead damage.

Q. Can I tow a trailer?
A. Yes, you must let us know in advance however.

Q. Can I drop off one way?
A. No, you must return the vehicle to our depot.

Q. What if I get a traffic offence, parking ticket, or forget to pay the congestion charge?
A. Charges will be passed on to you with an extra handling charge.

Q. Is there a spare wheel and tools?
A. Yes, you are responsible for them and must inform us of any use, loss or damage of them.

Q. What if I break down or have an accident?
A. Please call us or the AA for assistance.

Q. What if the contents of the van are damaged or stolen whilst I am the hirer?
A. You are responsible for all contents; Hunt Trucks will not accept any responsibility.

Q. What is my deposit of £500.00 for?
A. Your deposit is taken to cover most accidents however overhead damage may exceed this.
